Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Dr Simmi;

Could you please talk us through your background and your journey?

I am a medical graduate with a specialization in public health with over 15 years of experience practicing as a doctor and also have worked on various public health projects with the World Health Organization United States Agency for International Development and other organizations I have also taught in Medical College for three years.

I completed my certification in life coaching and I have been practicing as a mindset coach for women for the last one year bye.

How did you discover your passion?

As a doctor working closely with women across ages from adolescence to older ages, I realized that while we have been taking care of the physical health of women there is also the need to address to the emotional well-being Of Femen It was during my life journey navigating through multiple changes in roles and places that I experienced challenges both in personal and professional life the various phases of transition from budding Dr. to pride and from a career focused individual to mother and ambitious women who wanted to excel in life and work.

I found myself caught in a web of unending stress though there was no physical illness something did not feel right and I wanted to be heard I needed someone to partner with to chart my way forward but I found none so I turned my pain into power by completing certification in mindset coaching that will help me empower women around me.

How do you manage to keep going despite the challenges? What drives you?

I’m driven by my passion for making life better for women around me I see women entering different kind of phases in their lives be it entering into a new matrimonial home motherhood changing profession coming back to work after a break or transitioning through various life phases all these situations can be emotionally distressing no wonder women are often found to be suffering quietly and all alone the need to take care of them during these phases Keeps me going

Who do you believe has been the biggest source of motivation in your daily life?

The women in my life my mother my sisters my cousins my friends my colleagues at work they are my greatest motivation I have seen them appear and disappear as per my needs sometimes I wonder that when we graduate there are almost equal number of girls and boys in classes but as we rise in the levels in the ranks in our career we find that the number of women are less and less the representation is very poor in various professions so where do these women go the search for these missing women is my greatest motivation

What are some of the strategies that you believe have helped you grow as a person?

There are a few:

Taking care of my body and mind is the biggest strategy that has worked till date it’s very important that we are fit in all possible ways if we have to take care of others the second thing is upskilling myself regularly my journey as a doctor or as a coach did not stop when the degrees end.

I have been continuously attending various master classes and workshops and interacting with individuals who are better than me to guide me and help me improve myself reading various books and writing regularly is also one of the strategies that have helped me improve immensely.

In your opinion what are the keys to success?

(a) I will say it straight that there are many factors but if you really have to have the key elements then to me these are

(b) Self-awareness

(c) Active listening

(d) Continuous learning

(e) Curiosity

(f) Mindfulness

(g) Consistency

What advice would you give to our readers?

The only advice I would like to give each and every reader here is to seek help any time and every time you feel the need to not struggle all by yourself in today’s world we have resources and we also have technical expertise available in any and every kind of field so reach out to them there are life coaches there are therapists there are counselors who can help you battle all the struggles that are on your way self-improvement and self-awareness is key to all the joy in life so tune into yourself without fail every single day.

Last but not least, what about your journey makes it satisfying/exciting?

My journey is exciting because I have just started in less than six months I have coached more than fifty women most of them are doctors and that has made me even more motivated to reach out to become a healer for the healers to help them chart a way forward in their lives apart from that many corporate women young students homemakers and women from various walks of life have reached out to me.

When I see them in self-doubt I want to hold the mirror up for them and make them realize that they need to trust themselves I want them to discover their strengths and lean on themselves as well as help other women be better this journey is getting more exciting with every passing day as more and more women are reaching out to me all I can say is this is just the beginning
